Driver Now Fears ‘Gangsters’ Will Target His Family

Driver Now Fears ‘Gangsters’ Will Target His Family - First, he was mercilessly beaten up by a group of men. Now, lorry driver Nasrul Faiz Zulfahmi fears for his life and his family.

A week after being beaten up at a condominium, the trauma is still fresh for Nasrul Faiz.

The 25-year-old who was kicked and assaulted by several men at the condominium in Bukit Antarabangsa now claims his employers have told him that the assailants had warned him against taking the matter to the authorities.

Asked about the threats, Nasrul said: “Yes. My boss told me they are like ‘big-time’ gangsters.”

He said that was why he was initially reluctant to lodge a police report. Nasrul said he eventually lodged a report after being urged to do so by the police.

Speaking to reporters during a protest by a group of truck drivers who gathered in solidarity at the Sungai Besi toll plaza here, Nasrul said he was now very worried for the safety of his family.

Describing the incident, Nasrul said he was backing the truck when he accidentally hit the car that was parked behind him. The impact caused the number plate of the Mercedez-Benz to fall off and left the car with a few scratches.

He said he was then approached by a man who asked who the lorry belonged to.

“I asked if he was the owner of the car but he repeatedly asked who owned the truck,” he said, adding that he admitted to being the driver of the truck.

He said the man then hit him before pulling his shirt as if to pick a fight.

“I pulled back and asked why he hit me,” Nasrul said, adding that after that, all he could remember was being hit by the man and kicked by several others.

He said he was later pulled into the security office by the guards working there and taken for medical treatment.

He denied he was rude to the people who attacked him.

Asked if he would stop making deliveries in the area, Nasrul said: “Rezeki luas ... I will work.”

He added that the attack left him with bruises on several parts of his body and a gash that required 13 stitches on his neck.

Nasrul said his employer paid his medical fee of RM1,000.
