Pupils All Smiles At School Thanks To Parents Who Got Them Ready For First Day - Some children stepped confidently into school thanks to their parents who prepared them for the first day.
SK Putrajaya Presint 9 (2) Year One pupil Muhammad Irtizhar Husyn was all smiles as his mother Ainur Nadia Zakaria guided him to the school hall.
Prepping her son for Year One was nothing new for Ainur Nadia, 31, as she did the same for her Year Three daughter two years ago.
“For the first three weeks of December, my kids attended camps and were involved in many activities such as archery and horse riding so it helped in preparing them mentally to start school.
“I am proud of him. This is a big step up for him as during his preschool years, he just wouldn’t stop crying,” said Ainur Nadia.
Parent Nor Najmah Ramli, 33, said during the holidays, her husband and her prepared their daughter Ain Nazurah Mohd Ali by going through her Year One workbooks.
Just so that she didn’t get culture shock when the school year starts,” she said.
Ng Kheng Ban said that although his son was relaxed, he was anxious.
“He is used to the school’s environment as he went to preschool here.
“As a parent, however, I am a little anxious as to whether he will be able to cope with the Year One curriculum as it is different from preschool. He is autistic and so it may be a bit of a challenge for him,” said Ng, 40.
The Education Ministry said 435,882 students started Year One this year while another 441,569 entered Form One nationwide.
Students returned to school yesterday in all states except Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, where classes started on Jan 1.
