Before James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy hit the cinemas a few years back – starring the then TV actor Chris Pratt (of Parks And Recreation fame) – most of us had no idea what to expect.
Understandably so, since we’ve hardly heard of these Marvel comic characters first introduced in 1969 (which would explain the 1970s soundtrack featured in the film). Upon release, the film became an instant hit with critics and audiences alike, earning US$773mil (RM3.4bil) worldwide.
Needless to say, the sequel is one of the most awaited films this year. The gang – led by Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) with Gamora, Drax, Baby Groot and Rocket – is back to save the universe, this time to the music of Awesome Mixtape #2.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 explores Peter’s background, too, thanks to the appearance of his dad, Ego The Living Planet. In the comics, Ego is literally a massive planet but in the trailer we now know he looks like Kurt Russell. The movie also stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn, and features the voices of Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Baby Groot.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to open in Malaysia on April 27.
