‘I Do Not Know Why Or How I Fell 10 Storeys’ - A car salesman escaped with minor injuries after falling 10 storeys from a condominium.
The 23-year-old fell from the 13th floor of the building in Jalan Tanjong Tokong near here and landed on the metal awning of the open-air car park on the third floor.
Also surprising was the man’s claim, according to a resident of the condominium, that he did not know how or why he fell. The incident occurred at about 8.30am on April 15.
It is learnt that the man was on his way back to a relative’s place on the 14th floor after buying breakfast.
The resident, who declined to be named, said the man did not know why he went up to the 13th floor instead.
“A security guard heard a loud crash and rushed over to find him sitting on the awning, which had fallen to the ground from the impact,” the resident said.
Police said the man sustained a small wound on his left hand as well as bruises and scratches on his back.
His mother took him to a nearby clinic for treatment.
The man, who came from Kuala Lumpur with his family for Qing Ming, had visited a nearby cemetery a day earlier to observe the festival, which is also known as Tomb Sweeping Day.
Qing Ming, during which the Chinese visit the graves of their ancestors and loved ones, was on April 4 this year. It can be observed 10 days before and after the date.
It is learnt the man’s family has promised to bear the cost of the awning repairs.
