Nicol Crashes Out Of World Meet In Straight Sets Defeat To Egyptian Teen - Malaysian squash queen Nicol David's quest at the Women's World Championship in El Gouna, Egypt, ended at the quarter-finals.
World No. 6 Nicol, who was bidding for a record ninth world title, had no answers as she crashed to a 6-11, 5-11, 9-11 defeat against Egyptian teenager Nouran Gohar on Tuesday.
It is the second straight year that the 33-year-old has fallen in the last eight, having lost to world No. 1 Nour El Sherbini in the same stage in Kuala Lumpur last year.
World No. 5 Nouran, who is also the reigning world junior champion, next takes on defending champion Nour in a repeat of last year's semi-final.
The 21-year-old Nour was on fire as she powered past British Open runner-up Sarah-Jane Perry of England 11-6, 11-3, 12-10 in the quarter-finals.
