Nicol In Shock Defeat At World Games - Nicol David's bid for a fourth successive World Games squash gold medal ended in a shock loss to Hong Kong's Joey Chan in the semi-finals.
The world No. 6 lost 11-7, 10-12, 11-5, 4-11, 5-11 in the match in Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday.
It was the eight-time world champion's first ever defeat to world No. 19 Chan in nine meetings.
It also marked the first time that the 33-year-old Penangite has lost to another Asian player in 15 years.
David's last defeat to an Asian rival was during the 2002 Asian Games final in Busan, South Korea. Then she was beaten by Hong Kong's Rebecca Chiu.
Meanwhile, the left-handed Chan will go on to face top seed Camille Serme of France in the final.
World No. 3 Serme downed Britain's Fiona Moverley 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 in the other semi-final.
