Man Commits Suicide Over Marital Problems - A 21-year-old foreigner, who was apparently having marital problems, jumped to his death from the fourth floor of a flat here in Sandakan.
The victim, whose nationality is unknown, had on Thursday morning arrived from Labuan to meet his wife.
Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin said based on investigations, the man was trying to sort out some marital issues with his wife.
"However, it didn't end as he hoped," he said.
It is believed that she refused to see him and when he tried calling her at about 11am, she did not pick up his call.
It is learnt that he became stressed and depressed over the matter and was seen walking back and forth without speaking to anyone else.
At around 2.10pm, a neighbour claimed to have seen the victim walking towards the balcony while being blindfolded with a yellow cloth prior to the incident.
He then jumped off the building after reaching the edge.
ACP Mohd Azhar said a team of investigators were sent to the scene following a call from the neighbour.
He was found with a broken neck and other injuries.
"No foul play is suspected in this case," he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death.
