Nurse Blows Whistle On Family Abusing Adopted Sisters - Thanks to an observant nurse, two young girls were saved from the clutches of their abusive adoptive family.
The nurse was carrying out a routine health check at a kindergarten in Sungai Bayor when she found the siblings, aged five and six, had old weals on their hands and back.
Selama OCPD Deputy Supt Loo Lian Lay said the nurse then told police that she suspected the girls were being abused.
A 44-year-old woman and her two teenage children, at Kampung Sungai Berdarah, were arrested on Monday over the case.
DSP Loo said police believe the girls were also sexually abused and that the abuse has been going on since mid-2015.
The sisters were adopted on May 21, 2015, and the abuse probably started soon after, he said.
“Instead of providing love and care, the woman, her 16-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter have been abusing the girls physically and sexually,” he said.
The siblings were sent to Taiping Hospital for an examination, and initial checks show that they were not raped.
“Once all the necessary medical checks are completed, the victims will be handed to the State Welfare Department,” said DSP Loo.
Both girls told police that their adoptive mother and sister frequently caned, beat and pinched them, and even inserted their fingers into their private parts.
They also claimed that their adoptive brother would sometimes burn them with a lit cigarette.
