SEA Games: Malaysian Archers On Target With Two Golds - Malaysia's second and third gold medals in the SEA Games came in quick succession after the men's and women's compound archery teams came out tops in their respective events.
Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh swiftly bounced back from her disappointment in the individual archery event to anchor Malaysia to a successful title defence for the women's compound team event on Thursday.
She was part of the winning trio with Saritha Cham Nong and Nurul Syazhera Mohd Asmi, who held their nerve to beat Vietnam's Chau Kieu Oanh, Le Ngoc Huyen and Thi Nat Le Nguyen.
The two teams ended the match neck-and-neck 225-225, before the Malaysian trio came out tops winning 28-27 after a three-arrow shoot-off.
The men's team comprising Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki, Lee Kin Lip and Zulfadhli Ruslan also successfully defended their medal by powering past Singapore's Ang Han Teng, Alan Lee Chung Hee and Pang Toh Jin of Singapore 228-222.
The compound archers are now on course to meet their three-gold target with the mixed team event to be held Friday.
Juwaidi and Fatin will combine once more to defend the title they first won in Singapore two years ago.
