Redeem Complimentary Tickets To Watch Japanese Film ‘Midnight Diner 2’ - Want to kick back with a warm meal and cold drink in hand, surrounded by people who each have a story to tell? The enigmatic owner of this quaint Japanese diner tucked away in an alley, known as The Master, will whip up anything you fancy and see that you are well taken care of.

Golden Screen Cinemas is giving Star2 readers a chance to catch Midnight Diner 2 on Sept 6 (Wednesday, 9pm) at GSC Mid Valley, a day before it opens to the public on Thursday. A total of 130 tickets will be given out.

Unlikely Romance

Midnight Diner is based on the wildly popular manga by Yaro Abe, which has sparked a huge following and spawned four seasons of TV drama series in Japan, as well as Korean and Chinese adaptations. So popular is the TV series that it was made into a feature-length film in 2015.

This sequel is directed once again by Joji Matsuoka, winner of the Best Director Award of the Japanese Academy in 2008 for Tokyo Tower: Mom And Me, And Sometimes Dad.

Fans will be delighted to know that a few familiar faces will be on-board Midnight Diner 2, including Kaoru Kobayashi, who reprises his role as The Master, a great chef with a big heart and an amiable disposition; Jo Odagiri from the 2016 TV series; and Kimiko Yo and Mikako Tabe from the first Midnight Diner film.

In this installment, we get a glimpse into the eccentricities that happen at the fringes of funerals, the tragicomedy consequences of unlikely romances, and how being stuck between a rock and a hard place sometimes bring out the best in people.

Safe Haven

The Master’s diner opens from midnight till dawn, providing a safe haven for the oddball characters who frequent his humble eatery.

Where else can you go in the middle of the night except to this little diner tucked away in an alley, close enough to the bright lights of the city but secluded enough that it feels like you are away from it all?

Everyone here has a story of their own, and at this diner you might just be able to find a sympathetic ear or two, and forge friendships along the way.

Midnight Diner 2 is featured as part of the 14th Japanese Film Festival in Malaysia, and will be screened exclusively in seven GSC locations: Mid Valley, Pavilion KL, 1Utama and Nu Sentral in Klang Valley, Gurney Plaza in Penang, CityONE Megamall in Kuching and Suria Sabah in Kota Kinabalu, starting Sept 7.
