Cheong Min Wins Silver At Wushu Championships

Cheong Min Wins Silver At Wushu Championships - Debutant Tan Cheong Min picked up her second medal in the World Wushu Championships in Kazan, Russia on Monday.

The Malacca-born exponent impressed the judges with her grace and movements on the mat to earn 9.61 points for the silver medal in the women's nandao (southern  broadsword) event.

Hong Kong's He Jianxin topped the event with a 9.64 total while Indonesia's Juwita Niza Wasni finished third on 9.58.

On Sunday, 18-year-old Cheong Min won a bronze in the women's nangun (stick).

Cheong Min, who won two gold medals in last year' World Junior Championships in Bulgaria, did not compete in the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in August.

She was prepared instead for the World University Games taking place at the same time in Taiwan where she won a silver medal.

Malaysia have now recorded a haul of one gold, two silvers and two bronzes at the biennial world meet.
