Virgin America Will Take Its Last Bow Next Spring - Virgin America airlines will operate its last flight under the brand on April 24, 2018. The date was announced in an internal memo to its staff, which was obtained by aviation intelligence company FlightGlobal.
According to the memo, from April 25, 2018 onwards, consumers who try to book a flight through Virgin America’s website or app will be redirected to Alaskaair.com.
“We have taken an important step closer to complete our merger with Virgin America by combining our flight inventories into one,” the memo states.
Takeover and rebranding
Last year, Alaska Airlines acquired Virgin America in a takeover that was worth US$4bil (RM16.35bil).
After 10 months of research for a strategy that would appeal to its largely US West Coast consumer base, they have decided to adopt Alaska Air Group’s brand and logo.
Before its full retirement, Virgin American flight attendant and photographer Molly Choma had been capturing behind-the-scenes moments of flight attendants working in the galley preparing meals, performing safety drills during training, and taking a break during their flight service.
The photos are posted on Instagram with the hashtag #TheSecretLifeOfVirgins.
