What To Do In Skyrides Festivals Park, Putrajaya - This little patch of fun in the country’s administrative centre is touted the first “festivals” park of its kind. Launched in mid-2015, it is situated on the banks of the scenic Putrajaya Lake at Precinct 2 (next to Monumen Alaf Baru).

The park’s location makes for a picturesque setting for its array of attractions at various zones. These include the Skyrides Balloon, SkyWarrior Rainforest Challenge, SkyStage, SkyTaste, SkyGallery, SkyDemo, SkyKids and SkyKids Warrior.

Skyrides Festivals Park is open from 10am to 10pm daily and 10am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Why You Should Go

The venue offers another dimension for visitors to Putrajaya. If in the past, the administrative district lures with impressive architecture (Putra Mosque, Seri Wawasan Bridge, Perdana Putra) and natural sights (Putrajaya Wetlands Park, Taman Saujana Hijau), the Skyrides Festivals Park present a layer of thrilling fun.

Apart from that, its star attraction, the Skyrides Helium Balloon is listed on the Malaysia Book of Records for the first and the largest helium balloon in Malaysia.

What To Do

Soaring up to 120m above ground, the Skyrides Balloon is probably the most scenic way to experience the Putrajaya skyline. It takes about four-and-a-half minutes to reach the top. Once up there, you have about five minutes to soak in the panoramic lake view of the garden city.

Those looking for a little action can try out the SkyWarrior Rainforest Challenge. With eight obstacles that escalate in difficulty from start to finish and a time challenge, SkyWarrior is not for the faint-hearted or those with zilch body strength.

The last obstacle – Danum Valley – for one, is an intimidating skateboard stunt ramp that requires great momentum to propel one up to the elevated platform. There’s also a kid-friendly obstacle challenge called the SkyKids Warrior that offers 15 obstacles purpose-built to strengthen children’s muscles and motor coordination skills.

For something more relaxing, tour Lake Putrajaya aboard SkyCruise. The boat cruise comes with a wide range of packages from sunset cruises to dining.

Getting There

Private vehicles, taxis or ride-hailing such as Grab or Uber, would be your best bet. Alternatively, you can get to Putrajaya by taking the KLIA express train service available at KL Sentral Station. One-way fare is RM14 for adults.

Buses are cheaper, but the journey is significantly longer. To reach Putrajaya, take the E1 bus from the Pasar Seni LRT station, which is part of the Kelana Jaya-Putra LRT line. The bus also stops at Jalan Tun Sambanthan, which is near KL Sentral.

Upon arrival at Putrajaya Sentral, the Nadi Putra bus service will take you to key areas in the city.
