132 Cyclists Are Riding Across Malaysia For Le Tour De Langkawi 2018 - Le Tour de Langkawi, the 23rd edition of the international multistage bicycle race, kicks off today (Mar 18). Attracting cyclists from around the world, the challenge runs until Mar 25 and offers eight stages along scenic routes throughout Malaysia.
According to Le Tour de Langkawi CEO M. Kumaresan, the participating riders arrived early in Langkawi, Kedah ahead of the official team presentation ceremony, before heading to Kangar, Perlis for Stage 1 today. The race covers 1,341km across eight states and will finish at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
Over 132 cyclists from 22 teams comprising WorldTour, Continental Professional, Continental and national teams are taking part in the race. Riders have come from Canada, the United States, the UK, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Eritrea, Latvia, Belarus, Slovenia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Iran, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.
Kumaresan said about 70 districts are involved in the competition this year, from pre-race events coordination, cultural shows, side events and community activities to processions, protocol and invitations, security and race entourage safety.
