Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Wants Her Child To Have A Normal Life - It’s the moment we’d all been waiting for.
At their home in Bukit Antarabangsa last Sunday night (March 25), Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa made their way to the courtyard to introduce their baby girl to the world.
“I will leave the honour of announcing our baby’s name to her mother. She’s the more deserving one,” Khalid, also known as Datuk K, told a gathering of close family and friends.
Clad in a pastel green number, the 39-year-old singer revealed the newborn’s name: Siti Aafiyah Khalid.
“The word Aafiyah is found in an ayat doa (prayer). And I kept hearing this ayat doa throughout my pregnancy,” she shared the significance of the name. “Aafiyah means ‘everything that is good’.”
Siti Aafiyah Khalid was born at 8.17am on March 19 via caesarean section and weighed 3.55kg. The week-old baby girl marked the end of the couple’s 11-year wait since tying the knot in 2006.
After the aqiqah and tahnik ceremonies were performed – religious observances to celebrate and welcome the newborn – members of the media caught up with the new mum.
“The experience is different for every mother. I lost a lot of blood during my caesarean section and I had to be closely monitored by my doctor,” the singer recalled the day she gave birth.
“About three days later, I started walking. Although the wounds were still painful, I told myself to be brave.”
She added it could take up to six months before making a full recovery.
“Now my focus is on educating her, that’s a big responsibility. I want to give my best to raising her whether it’s imparting knowledge or teaching her good manners,” the singer said.
The Kuala Lipis-native also shared that she is well aware of the media attention her newborn has been getting but hopes to give her a normal life. “There’s nothing I can do. Her mum is a singer so that celebrity spotlight indirectly spills over to her.
“I don’t want to teach my child to be a celebrity. I want her to have a normal life and just go with the flow.”
She says there are no plans yet to set up an Instagram account for Siti Aafiyah, as is the trend seen among local celebrities of late.
Meanwhile, Datuk K, who has four sons has from a previous marriage, opened up about being a father to a baby girl for the first time.
“I’ve been praying for almost 18 years for a girl. When I built this house, each of my sons had a room. I built one more room and reserved it for a baby girl. Now that room finally has an occupant,” Datuk K, 59, said.
For women out there who have been trying for a baby but to no avail, the Dirgahayu hitmaker encourages them not to lose hope: “Don’t give up. Don’t stop praying. In my heart, I knew God would give me a baby at the right time. Although it took 11 years, my prayer was answered nonetheless,” said the new mum.
Asked if she plans to have another baby in the future, the pop darling replied: “It’s something I have in mind, but I have to see what the doctor says. I leave it to God. If God gives, I’m happy. If God doesn’t, I’m still grateful.”
