What To Do At Bukit Gasing Forest Park In Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Nestled between Selangor and Kuala Lumpur is Bukit Gasing Forest Park, one of the few “green lungs” of Petaling Jaya that is hugely popular among hiking enthusiasts.
There are two entrances to the park: The one that is commonly known as the main entrance has an arch and is located in PJ, while the “back entrance” is on the KL side. This makes the place easily accessible from both states.
There are no fees for hiking here, but as always, the rules of nature apply – “take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints”.
In other words, don’t pollute the area.
Why you should go
Hiking is a fun, healthy activity that you can do with your family and friends. Whether you prefer a one-hour quickie hike or a longer two-hour hike, this is a suitable place to check out.
What to do
There are many hiking trails to choose from. They range from easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. Each trail takes one to two hours to complete. The trails lead to a suspension bridge, watch tower, and Hindu temple. A river runs through the forest and you can trek using it as your path.
In the dry season, part of the river bed actually becomes the path. As always, remember to stay safe and don’t river trek if there is too much water.
Who will like it
Outdoor and hiking enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy Bukit Gasing Forest Park. There are different trails for hikers of different levels. Pet owners might also enjoy hiking here with their furry ones. Do remember to pick up the poop, should your dog decide to do its business along the trail.
Nature lovers might find interesting species of flora and fauna here too. If you enjoy nature photography, this is also a good place to head to.
Getting there
It is quite easy to get to the main entrance by car or bike if you live anywhere within the Klang Valley. Get a Grab car or Uber to the place if you’re not driving, or even a taxi.
However, do take note that it could be a little difficult to flag down a cab from the park to get to your next destination.
If you’re using Waze or Google Maps to drive there, look for “Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing”. The GPS coordinates are: 3.095138, 101.656131.
