Pribumi Disputes Legality Of RoS Notice - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is questioning the legality of the Registrar of Societies’ provisional dissolution notice, claiming that it is a breach of law.
During a press conference at the Pribumi headquarters here Thursday (April 5), chairman Tun Dr Mahathir said the notice served by RoS was served to the wrong person and to the wrong address.
“We dispute the legitimacy and the legality of the notice sent to us,” Dr Mahathir said.
He said according to Section 62 of the Societies Act 1966, the notice must be delivered to the four office bearers at the registered office.

He added that RoS kept insisting on the minutes of their branch and division meetings despite being informed multiple times that they have yet to have such meetings because they are a newly formed party.
“Whatever RoS accuses us of not complying we have already complied,” he claimed.
Dr Mahathir said RoS used the term “temporarily disband” and not “temporarily delist” in its notice, as such Pribumi assumes that it is still a functioning party and will continue with its activities.
He added that they will an appeal to Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and if it is rejected, they will appeal to the court of law.
“We will carry on with our electoral campaign and our right to use our name and logo until such time when RoS delists us completely,” Dr Mahathir said.
“Whatever they do to us we are going to contest in GE14, even if we have to contest as individuals,” he added.
Earlier, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) ordered Pribumi to temporarily disband for 30 days as it had failed to fulfil the body’s Feb 28 notice requesting for documents and details on the party.
This meant that Pribumi will not be allowed to use its logo or conduct any party activity during its disbandment with immediate effect.
Pribumi now has 30 days to fulfil the RoS’ request for more documents and file an appeal, failing which, the party will be permanently deregistered.
