Malaysian Marathon Des Sables Runner Urges Malaysians To Help Two Charities - All Datin Sue Ding wants for her 42nd birthday is for family, friends and well-wishers to contribute to the crowd-funding she initiated for two charities.
Ding, who initiated the crowd-funding in Dec last year says the donation period ends on her birthday on Thursday (May 3).
"Instead of giving me birthday presents, I am asking for contributions to be made to the crowd-funding," said Ding who became the first Malaysian woman to successfully complete the Marathon des Sables (MdS) in the Sahara Desert last month.
London-based lawyer Ding, initiated the crowd-funding and participated in MdS, dubbed as the most difficult footrace in the world, to raise funds for Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) and Make-A-Wish Malaysia (MAWM).
MDDB is a canine welfare organisation which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes street animals whilst MAWM makes the dreams of children with critical illness come true.
Ding has also made the appeal on her Facebook page.
"Even if you don’t support my chosen charities, choose to help me so that I can help others," said Ding.
So far Ding has raised RM124,000 of her RM250,000 target.
Ding, who is from Cheras, battled sandstorms, rocky terrains and blistering heat throughout the 250km run.
Contributions can be done only until midnight Thurs after which the link automatically deactivates.
